We’re living in chaotic times when tragedy turns quickly into theater.

Something horrific happens—an act of violence, a natural disaster, a cultural rupture—and within hours the storyline sets in: who is the victim, who is the villain, and who will swoop in to save the day.

At first, it feels like clarity. But over time, it becomes a trap.

The headlines are loud, emotions are raw, and everywhere I look people seem more convinced than ever that they’re on the right side while others are dangerously wrong. Some even say we’re on the verge of another civil war.

I am not here to debate politics or take sides because that’s exactly what has us in this mess. Nor am I avoiding speaking my truth. What I want to share is a framework that has helped me make sense of what I see in the world, and also in myself.

Last week marked three years since we moved, sight unseen, to Portugal. I’ve been reflecting on what an incredible journey it has been, and how one courageous leap can ripple out into so many unexpected blessings.

It’s been over a week since returning from Kenya and I’m still unwrapping the gifts of that journey—moments that stirred my soul and reminded me of the human spirit’s unbreakable fire.

My time with the people I got to know there really put life in perspective around themes of abundance, community, freedom.

We’re now in Kenya, and I’m still  basking in the awe and life-affirming glow from our three unforgettable days on safari in Kenya’s Maasai Mara Conservancy.

Beyond the family adventure time together, this safari reminded me of my own wild journey of self-discovery these past six years, from feeling dissatisfied in my career to taking the leap to Portugal and living the life of my dreams.

The world is trembling.

Wars, chaos, riots—so much of what we once trusted is cracking. And yes, it hurts. Yes, it can feel hopeless.

But underneath the noise, I feel something deeper.

A clearing.

A purging.

A return.

We are not just witnessing collapse.

Three years ago to this week, we took the biggest leap of our lives and committed to move from our home in Marin to Portugal-- sight un-seen. We followed the call to adventure, not knowing Portugal would steal our hearts.

After spending two action-packed weeks back in Marin, we’re now selling the house that was the home we raised our kids in since they were 5 & 3 years old.

Life rarely goes as planned. But disappointment can often lead to something even better.

Portugal sparked a dream two years ago. I envisioned creating a wellness hub with saunas, cold plunges, connection.

This business would weave so much of my journey together (I spent much of my career in the health and wellness industry before becoming a coach).

This one of my highlights of 2024. I co-created a community event for 40 people and it greatly exceeded anything I could have imagined.
