Safari of the Soul
I’m feeling such immense gratitude for these amazing family experiences this summer, especially our adventures in wild nature.
We’re now in Kenya, and I’m still basking in the awe and life-affirming glow from our three unforgettable days on safari in Kenya’s Maasai Mara.
What struck me on this safari adventure wasn’t just the animals’ majesty, it was their total authenticity and how they truly belong in their environment. No pretense. Just raw, unapologetic being.
When our open-air Land Rover would come to a stop just yards away from them, I could viscerally feel…
The sovereignty and playfulness of the lions…
The peace and wisdom of the elephants…
The solitary power of the jaguar and cheetah…
The alertness and presence of all the gazelles, wildebeests, and water buffalo.
One sunset, we witnessed a male lion being so loving with his three grown cubs —its presence mirrored my call to live boldly with my family.
This experience, especially after visiting a Maasai village, also reminded me just how disconnected modern humanity has become from our true nature and nature itself. We have become so plugged into technology, convenience, “safety,” and conformity, we chase likes instead of presence, missing the raw connection of community and unique expression.
We admire wild animals for being what we’ve forgotten how to be: present, powerful, and at peace with their role in the world.
This safari wasn’t just about admiring animals, it was about remembering the sacred wild inside us all.
